Workshop 7th October - SIA: Body as Source

Workshop 7th October - SIA: Body as Source

The SIA’s introductory workshop,  “Body as Source: Excavating Freedom” will focus on activating the individual’s unique physical expression through an awakening of the psychophysical processes. Participants have the opportunity to research the relationship between form and freedom, inner life and outer expression to develop the “body-self”, cultivate movement languages and engage with physical training within an ensemble ethos. The training will place emphasis on the principles of presence, truth, and the freedom and spontaneity of the body.

SIA's 'Body as Source' workshop will be led by Henry McGrath. Henry is an associate artist at the internationally acclaimed Polish company, Song of the Goat theatre where he has been involved in four projects since 2014. He played the title role of Hamlet in their production Crazy God. He is Co-Artistic Director at Animikii theatre, a pioneering physical theatre ensemble based in Manchester. He Co-Directed Origins based on the Cain & Abel story which has toured to the Lowry, Unity theatre, Southbank Centre as part of a 'Nation's theatre' festival and the Edinburgh Fringe 2017 where Origins was awarded 'Pick of the Fringe' by Voice Magazine.
